Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin attended and made an inaugural remark at the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Joint Cultural Event –“ASEAN Week 2019” which was held at 11:30 am on 12 August 2019 at Side Atrium Hall of the Junction City in Yangon.
Present at the opening ceremony were Mr Pehin Dato Abdu’r Rahmani DatoBasir, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Myanmar, ASEAN Ambassadors and their spouses, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors and diplomats from the Embassies in Yangon, Members of Myanmar-ASEAN Women’s Friendship Association (MAWFA) and other invited guests.
As part of activities of ASEAN Cultural Year 2019, the ASEAN Joint Cultural Event “ASEAN Week 2019” was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar and the ASEAN Embassies in Yangon under the theme of “Colourful Threads, Diverse Patterns, One ASEAN” with the aim to promote public awareness of ASEAN Community and its rich and diverse cultures.
The event will showcase diversity of ASEAN cultures by exhibiting traditional costumes and textiles of all ASEAN Member States.
The event will be open to the public from 12 to 18 August 2019 at the Side Atrium Hall, Level-2, of Junction City in Yangon.
