State Counsellor observes Presidential Election at Pyidaungsu Hluttaw

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi observed the Presidential Election of the 2nd Pyidaungsu Hluttaw session in the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw meeting hall, yesterday morning.

First, Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than declared the commencement of the Presidential Election and explained about the voting process, ballots and why votes might be rejected.

He then announced the election of U Win Myint as President, nominated by the elected Pyithu Hluttaw MPs group, and U Myint Swe nominated by the Tatmadaw MPs group and U Henry Van Thio nominated by the Amyotha Hluttaw MPs group as Vice Presidents.

Together with State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Vice President U Henry Van Thio, Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo, Union Election Commission Chairman, Union Ministers, Union Attorney-General, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman, Myanmar Human Rights Commission Chairman, Pyidaungsu Hluttaw’s Legal Affairs and Special Cases Assessment Commission Chairman and members and invited guests attended and observed the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw’s Presidential Election event.
